The best way to explore the Wadi Rum Desert is by embarking on a jeep safari to its most iconic landmarks. During the 4-hour jeep tour, we’ll see the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, ancient rock carvings/petroglyphs, Lawrence Canyon, the site of Lawrence of Arabia’s house, Um Ishrin Canyon, the natural stone arch of Um Fruth, the Mushroom Rock, and sweeping sand dunes.
In the afternoon, we’ll transfer to Petra (2 hours). Along the way, we’ll stop at Little Petra to admire its stunning multicolored cliffs and explore the ruins of a Neolithic village—believed to have been inhabited from 7200 BC to 6500 BC, making it one of humanity’s earliest settlements. Around that time, the village burned down and was rebuilt. After reconstruction, it was only briefly occupied before being abandoned entirely. The remains of houses and a retaining wall are still visible today. Little Petra (as its name suggests) is the "younger sister" of the great Petra. Locally known as Al-Beidha, it is also hidden among the mountains like Petra but far less crowded.
Next, we’ll head to our hotel in Petra (10-minute bus ride). Overnight at the 5* Petra Moon Luxury Hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation included: Petra Moon Luxury 5*Day 3. November 11, 2025 (Tuesday). LITTLE PETRA – GREAT PETRAAfter an early breakfast, we’ll take the bus to Little Petra, the starting point of our journey. From here, a local Bedouin guide will lead us along the secret Nabatean trail from Little Petra to the heart of Petra. The path begins at Little Petra and winds its way up to the Ad-Deir Monastery, offering breathtaking views of the highest peak, Jebel Haroun. From the monastery’s summit, we’ll descend toward the city center, passing temples, tombs, the Colonnaded Street, the Roman Museum, and the iconic Treasury before exiting through the Siq gorge.
The mountain trail itself takes about 3–3.5 hours, but the entire trek—from the starting point to the exit of Petra—will take 5–6 hours on foot.
For those seeking a shorter route, there is an alternative Nabatean trail. While it doesn’t offer the same grandeur as the full hike, it significantly reduces walking time. In this case, you’ll be driven partway by jeep (cost: 7 JD / $10 per person, payable on-site at the jeep departure point).
