In the evening — dinner at the legendary Stonegrill Port Vila restaurant, where dishes are served sizzling on hot volcanic stones while the sun sets over Port Vila harbour. The best start imaginable.

Day 2. May 1, 2027 (Saturday). PORT VILLA – ESPIRITU SANTO ISLAND
At 6:00 am, after an early breakfast, we leave the hotel and head to the airport for the 7:30 am flight to Espiritu Santo. We land at 8:20 am on the largest island of Vanuatu — whose name means "Holy Spirit" in Spanish. A private transfer takes us to Turtle Bay Lodge.
After checking in, take a moment to refresh and relax with a cool drink overlooking the ocean — or go snorkelling at one of the nearby reefs to explore the rich marine life right on the doorstep.
After lunch, we transfer by bus to the town of Luganville to visit one of Vanuatu's most famous sites, especially beloved by divers. Espiritu Santo is a true mecca for scuba diving — and if you are one of them, you have surely heard of Million Dollar Point. This is an underwater graveyard of World War II military equipment: tanks, jeeps, and machinery dumped into the ocean by the American military at the end of the war, now covered in coral and teeming with thousands of fish. Snorkelling is included in the programme, with equipment provided by Pacific Dive. Divers can explore the famous wreck of the SS President Coolidge for an additional fee.
After a couple of hours in the water, we return to the lodge. Tomorrow is a very full day!
Accommodation included: Turtle Bay Lodge
Meals included: breakfast
Day 3. May 2, 2027 (Sunday). ESPIRITU SANTO ISLAND: MILLENIUM CAVE CANYONING
Today is all about adventure — we spend the entire day exploring the Millennium Cave. After breakfast at 7:00 am, we pack our swimwear, t-shirts and a spare set of dry clothes, and head into the heart of Santo island.
The Millennium Cave is the largest cave in Vanuatu. It takes about an hour to drive there, then a 15-minute walk to the entrance. And then begins what you came to the edge of the world for: climbing rocks and ladders, swimming through underground rivers and canyons, bathing in waterfalls and cave lakes. The hike is demanding but breathtakingly beautiful — one of the highlights of the entire expedition. Lunch is served inside the cave itself.
At around 17:00 we return to the lodge — exhausted, soaked through, and absolutely happy. Dinner and night at Turtle Bay Lodge.
Accommodation included: Turtle Bay Lodge
Meals included: breakfast, lunch
Day 4. May 3, 2027 (Monday). ESPIRITU SANTO: BLUE HOLE AND CHAMPAGNE BEACH
After breakfast at 7:00 am we begin our day. We invite you to discover the most famous beach on the island — the one that draws travellers from all over the world to Santo. But first — the Nanda Blue Hole, also known as "Jacky."
A blue hole is a natural pool formed by underground spring water bursting up through layers of limestone. These pools contain the bluest water on Earth. They owe their name to the striking contrast between the deep dark-blue water at the centre and the lighter water surrounding it. The temperature is a perfect +25°C — refreshing and ideal for a swim in the tropical heat. And swim we will!
Then — Champagne Beach. One of the ten best beaches in the world! A crescent of white sand beside a crystal-clear lagoon ringed by coral. And the defining secret: in the shallows at low tide, the water bubbles and fizzes — exactly like champagne. This is volcanic gas escaping from the rock beneath the lagoon. A beachside lunch has been arranged for us here.
We return to the lodge at 17:00. Dinner and night at Turtle Bay Lodge.
Accommodation included: Turtle Bay Lodge
Meals included: breakfast, lunch
Day 5. May 4, 2027 (Tuesday). ESPIRITU SANTO – TANNA ISLAND
After breakfast at 7:00 am, transfer to the airport. We fly to Port Vila, departing at 9:00, arriving at 9:50. Connecting flight to Tanna at 11:00, landing at 11:40.
Transfer to Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa — a 4-star boutique resort on the southern shore of the island with breathtaking ocean views.
Lunch.
In the afternoon, an island highlights tour: the Tanna Organic Coffee hulling plant, Lenakel Market, the open-air Supreme Court building, a Catholic mission on the coast, and the Giant Banyan Tree — one of the largest ever recorded in the world. A fine introduction to Tanna.
Return to the resort, dinner and night at Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa.
Accommodation included: Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa
Meals included: breakfast
Day 6. May 5, 2027 (Wednesday). TANNA ISLAND: PORT RESOLUTION, JOHN FRUM CARGO CULT, IMAYO KASTOM VILLAGE AND YASUR ACTIVE VOLCANO
The most packed day of the entire expedition. At 9:30 am we set off on a full-day journey across the island — with packed lunches, swimwear, masks and fins.
We head east through volcanic fields and past the site of Lake Siwi, which Yasur volcano swallowed entirely in 2000. First stop: Ipkel village, where followers of the John Frum cargo cult will meet us. This religion grew up here during World War II — a fascinating story of how foreign civilisation keeps myths in its wake.
Next — hot springs for a swim, then on to Imaio village, from whose hillside the smoking cone of Yasur looms right before you. We meet the village chief, hear about local customs and taboos, and taste lap-lap — the traditional dish of bananas, cassava, spinach and coconut baked in banana leaves. After the tasting, the villagers perform traditional dances in our honour and lead a tour of the village. The most adventurous among us can even feed a pig.
Then — Port Resolution. This is where James Cook sailed in on HMS Resolution in 1774. Going ashore, he asked the local people what the island was called, scooping up a handful of soil — one of the islanders replied "Tanna" (meaning "earth" or "soil" in the Nufay language). The island's traditional name is "Parey." Cook attempted to climb Yasur, but the villagers stopped him — they worshipped the volcano as a god and considered it sacred. We swim, sunbathe and snorkel here. Lunch on the beach.
After lunch — up to the rim of Yasur crater. At only 361 metres above sea level, it is one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world. Yet the approach tells you everything: deep booming and rumbling, rocks and ash launched into the sky, the ground trembling underfoot. An active volcano is not a spectacle — it is a physical experience you will never forget.
A late dinner back at the resort, filled with lively talk about the day. Night at Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa.
Accommodation included: Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa
Meals included: breakfast, lunch
Day 7. May 6, 2027 (Thursday). TANNA ISLAND: YAKEL VILLAGE — BLUE CAVE
After breakfast at 8:30 am, we drive 45 minutes into the jungle to the traditional village of Yakel. Yakel is one of the very few places on Earth where people still live exactly as their ancestors did centuries ago — no concessions to the modern world, traditions and rituals entirely intact. Most residents speak only their native language. This is also the village where the Oscar-nominated film "Tanna" was shot, and some of the cast still live here — with luck, we may meet them in person. Traditional dances are performed for us, and everyone is invited to join in.
After lunch — the Blue Cave Tour. A small boat carries us along a magical limestone coastline to the Lemnap (Blue) Cave. Entry requires a short dive underwater (roughly half a metre) — and suddenly you are inside a natural grotto 60 metres in diameter, lit from above by a shaft of light through a five-metre opening in the cave roof. The effect is otherworldly.
Dinner and night at Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa.
Accommodation included: Whitegrass Ocean Resort & Spa
Meals included: breakfast
Day 8. May 7, 2027 (Friday). TANNA ISLAND — PORT VILA
After breakfast, we pack up and transfer to the airport. Flight to Port Vila departing at 12:20, arriving at 13:00. Transfer to Ramada Resort.
In the afternoon — a guided walking tour of Port Vila. Scenic lookouts, Parliament House, the Council of Chiefs, Erakor waterfront, Independence Park. The tour ends at the Central Market and Mahitahi Handicraft Market, where you can pick up souvenirs, local fabrics and fresh tropical fruit. Also included: the National Museum of Vanuatu in the Vanuatu Cultural Centre building — the country's largest collection of 3,500 artefacts from across the archipelago: masks, slit-gong drums, weapons, giant outrigger canoe models and unique sand drawings.
Dinner and night at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Port Vila 5*.

Day 9. May 8, 2027 (Saturday). PORT VILA — NAGOL LAND DIVING FESTIVAL, PENTECOST ISLAND
Very early start: transfer to the airport at 5:30 am. Flight to Pentecost at 7:00, landing in Lonorore at 8:00.
Straight from the airport — to the tower.
It is widely believed that the modern concept of bungee jumping originated in Europe or New Zealand. It did not. The original vine-rope jump has always been right here, on the island of Pentecost in the Republic of Vanuatu. Naghol is an annual ritual: men with vines tied to their ankles dive from a wooden tower up to 30 metres tall!
According to legend, the first jumper was a woman. Fleeing her tyrannical husband Tamale during a quarrel, she climbed a tall tree. When he found her, she leapt — and survived, because she had tied a flexible vine to her ankles. Her husband jumped after her and died. From that day, the Naghol ritual was born — though now only men take part, to prove their courage.
Preparations take about a month: the village elder and the men who will dive build the ritual tower from trunks and branches lashed together with vines. The festival takes place from mid-April to mid-June — the only time of year when the particular vine fills with sap and becomes elastic as rubber. The rite of initiation is a prerequisite for marriage; the whole clan gathers to watch, and the young women come dressed in their finest, hoping for a match. The pinnacle of skill is a dive where the man's shoulders touch the earth — an act of fertilising the ground, asking the gods for a good harvest. The first jump is always made by a married man. Then all males over 10 follow. Even the late Queen of the United Kingdom flew here specially to witness it.
While the day-trip visitors drive back to the airport, we stay behind. We move to the coastal Waterfall Village, check into the guesthouse and have lunch. In the afternoon, we return to the divers — to talk, ask all the questions that have built up, and see these men simply as people rather than as ritual performers. At sunset, our hosts conduct a traditional kava ceremony to formally welcome us as guests.
Accommodation included: Waterfall village Guest House
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 10. May 9, 2027 (Sunday). PENTECOST ISLAND: JUNGLE, WATERFALL AND BEACH
In the morning, we head into the jungle. A half-day trek leads us to a bat cave and a waterfall — diving into cool fresh water after a tropical night is exactly what is needed. Along the way, encounters with local communities who live in this place as though the world beyond the horizon simply does not concern them.
Afterwards — traditional canoeing. The very men who dived yesterday take us out on a traditional outrigger canoe. A leisurely paddle across the lagoon, conversations, photographs. In the afternoon, free time at the beach: swim, lie under a palm tree, or sit by the water and take stock of everything seen. In the evening, dinner is lovingly cooked by the village mamas from fresh produce grown in their gardens and caught from the sea today.
Accommodation included: Waterfall Village guesthouse
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 11. May 10, 2027 (Monday). PENTECOST ISLAND — PORT VILA: RARRU CASCADES
After breakfast — final photographs and warm farewells with our wonderful hosts. Pickup truck transfer to Lonorore airport. Flight to Port Vila departing at 8:10, arriving at 9:10. Transfer to Ramada Resort.
In the afternoon — an excursion to the Rarru Cascades and waterfall. A scenic 25-minute drive through tropical rainforest, then a short walk to the water via a lookout point with panoramic views of the coastline. We swim and relax in the natural rock pools. At the end of the tour, our guide pours a shell of kava — the proper way to close out Vanuatu.
Farewell dinner. Night at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Port Vila 5*.
