Your expedition begins in Longyearbyen. In the afternoon, you will board the icebreaker.

During our cruise around this High Arctic island, the expedition team will do their utmost to maximize shore landings and wildlife sightings. The archipelago offers endless opportunities for photographing pristine landscapes and wildlife. The untouched nature of Svalbard is well-protected and virtually uninhabited by humans. It is one of the best places in the world to observe polar bears in their natural habitat, the Arctic desert.

The icebreaker will tirelessly make its way toward the top of the world. Ice conditions in the high Arctic are unpredictable, so the journey to our main goal — the North Pole — may take up to 8 days. It is this very unpredictability that fills our expedition with a true sense of adventure.

This mythical place, perpetually covered by ice and remote from any land, has attracted generations of explorers. Even today, only a handful of travelers have reached the North Pole. This incredible achievement is made possible for you by the icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot.

Our icebreaker will continue its journey, navigating through ice ridges and vast ice fields. The expedition team will provide fascinating lectures on the Arctic's fauna, history, and geology.
