Day 2. August 30, 2025 (Saturday). Johannesburg – Clarens
We begin the morning with a city tour of Johannesburg—a city of contrasts where the past and future meet on every corner. At Gandhi Square, learn how young Mahatma Gandhi, who worked here as a lawyer, developed his first ideas of nonviolent resistance. We will walk through the business districts with their glass skyscrapers, teeming with modern life, and stop at the famous "Golden Mile," where the city was built around gold mining. You will discover how "the city of gold" (Joburg, as locals call it) became the heart of South Africa and earned its status as one of the largest metropolises on the continent.
After our walk, we leave the bustle of the city and head to Clarens, a charming town in the Eastern Free State surrounded by the Maluti Mountains. This place is often called the "artistic capital" of the region. Why? – Here, galleries, workshops, and art shops can be found at almost every corner. Clarens is also known for its wineries and gastronomic delights. We may have time to try local cheese or homemade jams made right here in the mountains. In the evening, we will relax at the hotel, enjoying the cozy atmosphere and scenic views.

Day 3. August 31, 2025 (Sunday). Clarens – Semonkong (Lesotho)
Today, we head to Lesotho—the country often referred to as the "Kingdom in the Clouds." Lesotho is a unique country located over 2000 meters above sea level, and there is no other nation in the world entirely situated at such an elevation. Here, amidst mountains and waterfalls, we will meet the Basotho people, who have preserved their traditions and customs for centuries.
In a Basotho village, we will immerse ourselves in the culture: we will see traditional huts made of wood and straw, try national dishes, and hear captivating stories of ancestors passed down through generations. One of the most notable aspects of the Basotho is their traditional clothing, called "hobo." These wide and colorful cloaks, worn by both men and women, symbolize belonging to the tribe.
The air is fresh and pure here, and the mountains are enveloped in mist. We will rest at our hotel, enjoying the views of the mountain peaks, and in the evening, we can admire a particularly beautiful sunset.

Day 4. September 1, 2025 (Monday). Semonkong – Maletsunyane Waterfall – Maseru
After breakfast, we will visit the Maletsunyane Waterfall. Its grandeur is breathtaking: the water falls from a height of 192 meters, turning into a veil of mist that shimmers with a rainbow in the sunlight. Maletsunyane is not only famous for its beauty but also as one of the best places in the world for base jumping.
Next, we head to Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. Located at the foot of Mount Qiloane, Maseru has been the center of British colonial administration since the 19th century. Today, it combines modernity with tradition: you will see both business districts and markets selling brightly patterned fabrics.

Day 5. September 2, 2025 (Tuesday). Maseru – Safari in Nambiti (South Africa)

This area is home to the "Big Five" of Africa—elephants, lions, rhinoceroses, buffaloes, and leopards. We will be in the heart of the African savannah, where every bush hides new adventures. A safari in Nambiti is a great opportunity to see these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

Day 6. September 3, 2025 (Wednesday). Nambiti – Eswatini
After breakfast, we will drive to Eswatini. This small country is one of the few absolute monarchies in the world, where the king and queen mother play key roles in preserving the cultural heritage. Eswatini is famous for its traditional crafts, such as grass weaving, wood carving, and the creation of exquisite candles, each symbolizing the spirit of the African land.
We will visit the famous Swazi Candles factory. This is not just a factory but a true ethnographic center, where artisans use techniques inspired by ancient traditions. Wax here becomes a canvas for creating true works of art—candles in the shape of animals, plants, and abstract patterns, each symbolizing a connection with nature. These candles not only decorate homes but also play an important role in traditional rituals and festivals in Eswatini, such as ceremonies of gratitude to ancestors. You will learn that the patterns used by the artisans often reflect the beliefs of the Zulu and Swati people, where certain shapes and colors are associated with prosperity, protection, and fertility.
Afterwards, we will visit the Summerfield Botanical Garden, a living encyclopedia of local flora. Here, we will see plants that have been used by the Swati people for centuries for healing, building, and cooking. For example, the local people have long used the bark and leaves of certain trees to treat malaria and colds. In the garden, it is easy to imagine oneself as part of ancient traditions, especially when the sound of exotic birds chirping or the rhythmic beat of drums fills the air—tools still used during festivals like the Incwala or Umhlanga.

Day 7. September 4, 2025 (Thursday). Eswatini – Mbabane – Reed Dance Festival
Today, we head to Mbabane, the capital of Eswatini. This city is more than just the administrative center—it is the heart of Eswatini's culture, filled with the sounds of African drums, the scent of spices from local markets, and the warmth of its people. Local craftsmen are known for their beadwork and wooden items, and the city's streets are lined with vibrant shops selling unique souvenirs.
The highlight of the day will be immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of one of the country's most colorful and unique events—the Reed Dance Festival (Umhlanga). Its primary significance is as a symbol of purity, maturity, and the transition of girls to adulthood. The tradition dates back to the 16th century, and only unmarried girls participate, gathering in large groups to dance around prepared reeds.
During this dance, the girls, dressed in traditional costumes often including feathered ornaments and beads, perform ritual movements connected to gratitude to nature and honoring ancestors. The reed symbolizes strength, life, and renewal, and the dance itself is not just a cultural event but also an expression of the people's connection to their roots.
The Reed Dance is one of the most important and revered holidays in Eswatini. It attracts thousands of spectators, including rulers and tourists, and is a crucial part of the national identity.

The park was established in 1967 and plays an important role in preserving South Africa's biodiversity. Rare species such as dwarf buffaloes and hyena dogs also inhabit Hlane. The park is famous for its unique ecosystems, ranging from open savannas to dense forests. Its colonial architecture, including magnificent buildings such as the train station built in the early 20th century and several elegant palaces, recalls its Portuguese heritage.
